The midterm elections are every four years in the United States, and we wanted to understand how they work. Our guest is Leslie Graves, the founder and CEO of Ballotpedia.org, a nonpartisan election information resource for voters across the nation.

Leslie walks us through what we can expect to find on a ballot, how polls work, and why people who can vote should vote every time. Parents can help determine whether the next generation gets involved by making a habit of voting.

We also hear from an Albuquerque Public Schools’ Family School educator and his multi-grade students about how reading the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights motivated them to actively encourage voter participation. Through their research, they learned that it’s the people who have the power to select leaders, and not the other way around.

Then Theatre-In-The-Making’s students present a one minute play imagining New Rules For Adults #5: Age Restrictions Do Not Apply, giving kids the right to vote.
