The Children’s Hour Kids Crew and host Katie Stone took a tour of Albuquerque Fire Rescue Station Number Three, explore a real fire truck, and learn how firefighters respond to emergencies. The show shares fire safety tips for homes and wildfires, plus songs and interviews that explain what firefighters do and why teamwork matters.
At Albuquerque Fire Rescue Station Number Three, kids meet Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo, Captain Kyle Christian, and other firefighters who explain what their jobs are really like. Firefighters respond to many kinds of emergencies. They help people who are sick, rescue hikers, put out wildfires, and even save animals stuck in tricky places. Firefighters work long shifts and live at the station for two days at a time while staying ready for calls.
Listeners get an inside look at a real fire truck and the tools firefighters use. Kids learn about hoses, hydrants, ladders, turnout gear, and special uniforms that keep firefighters safe. Firefighters explain how they aim water, why response time matters, and how teamwork keeps everyone protected during emergencies.
The show also teaches important fire safety tips. Firefighters explain why smoke detectors matter, how to make a home escape plan, and what to do if there is smoke or fire. Kids learn about stop, drop, and roll, staying low, and being careful with candles, stoves, heaters, and campfires. Firefighters also share how families can prepare for wildfires.
Kids hear stories about why firefighters are heroes, how volunteers help in small towns, and why Dalmatians became part of firefighting history. The episode shows how firefighters care about their communities and work together every day.
