The Children’s Hour and ¡Globalquerque! hosted ¡Globalquerquito! School Day Mini Fest at the Albuquerque Museum in March 2026 with an audience of more than 250 children from nearby schools. The annual event brings together bands from different parts of the world to help kids learn about culture through music and stories.  You can watch the full program of ¡Globalquerque! at our YouTube page.

The first performer was two time Grammy winner, Robert Mirabal. With many flutes around him on stage, he captivated the audience while singing stories in his native language of Northern Tiwa.

This is one of many Pueblo languages spoken in New Mexico, but the nearest one to Taos is nearly 150 miles away, just south of Albuquerque in the Pueblo of Isleta.  Listen for the calls of birds, the sound of the wind, and stories about Pueblo life for children.

Then Mélisande Elek-Trio climbed on stage, wearing light-up costumes and playing traditional Quebec instruments. One was the stomp board, played by Mélisande and Alex’s son Emile. Other instruments included the mouth harp, accordion, guitar, and voices. The kids in the audience were encouraged to dance, clap, and sing along. At one point, Mélisande got off the stage and danced with the kids in the audience, much to everyone’s delight.
